October 6, this Thursday, is picture day!  Our class has pictures after lunch.  

We've continued to work on fluently manipulating numbers up to 20 in math.  We've learned several games to make this a little more fun.

In literacy, we continue our silent and partner reading daily.  Our daily mini lessons have been covering how to be a successful reader.  We have just begun the next session in our unit one reading curriculum, which is how to improve our reading by things such as, setting new goals and referring to them often, reading for understanding, looking for deeper meaning, making detailed predictions to name a few.  

We are still working on narrative writing and began cursive last week.

We're continuing to learn about Portland in Social Studies.

Please have your children complete their reading logs at home and bring them to school on Mondays.  I would like for the children to use their logs to create a bar graph which would act as a visual for students to see how much they're reading each week.  It's something I'd like them to update/add to each Monday when they return to school.
